- Pros: The light is bright and always noticeable when the detector alerts.
- Review: I hooked it up on the pilots cockpit light by the top of the pilots door in my sons Stinson 108-3. I didn't expect to hear audio as the Stinson isn't the quietest bird and with my hearing aids covered by headset muffs that makes sense. However the light flashed in my eyes when it "alerted" to a carbon monoxide level high enough to cause a reaction. I was taxiing back to my hangar after a flight and had the door window open to cool things down. The change in airflow caused the alert and I never smelled any exhaust. Closing the window shut off the detector. Sure beats the paper which changes color with time! My son can hear the audio but his ears are lots younger than mine! Great piece of equipment that alerts YOU to danger!

Used it while conducting my Checkride prep with my instructor for my upcoming Checkride. Turned on my defrost because of foggy windshield until it cleared. As we were into my maneuvers the unit went off loud and light was flashing. Turned off the defrost and opened front vents and pilot side window to clear out carbon. My instructor was very impressed with the unit and we continued on with no issues. Had an amazing Checkride prep. Unit works SWIMMINGLY!! Will always have this unit with me in every aircraft that I fly in. Its a No-Brainer!! Not trying to become a NTSB accident report. I have a second unit from Honeywell home Carbon Monoxide detector as well. It showed 30ppm but never went off. This unit went off right away.

Q: is the detector sensor on the rear, forcing it to be not mounted? I need to be able to use velcro or 3M double sided tape to mount to an instrument blank, without blocking the sensor. Some portables I am seeing have sensor on the back.
A: It comes with a Sun Visor clip, though with some double-sided tape, you could mount it anywhere.
